Compare and Contrast: Children’s Lives

Compare this sad story:
I’ll spare you the rant about access to guns and gender socialization. Now, contrast it with this story:
Good for these girls and shame on the parents and society that consider girls property whose only value is the money they can bring in through marriage. The girl’s story is familiar but horrendous nonetheless:
And the third girl’s story is no better.
Religious fundamentalists are sexist, misogynistic evildoers whose idiocy is only surpassed by their ignorance and the sick thrill they get from boy-power. And no, this is not a religious aberration, it is a logical extension of it. It makes societies more structurally violent, especially for women and girls, which is not a bug or a misinterpretation of religion, it’s a feature.

When I read the story about the 8 year old who shot his father and the other man, my first thought was “What were those two doing to that kid to drive him to kill?”
The killings do not sound like an accident, which is the usual situation involving young children and firearms. My younger brother had friends, brothers, one of whom had accidently shot and paralyzed the other, for example. At least once a month I read about a killing where some kid was playing with a gun and another child gets injured.
But this was a child who appears to have deliberately killed two adults, definitely out of the ordinary. The boy is reported as *not* having any known mental or behavioral problems, though it has not been ruled out. So, what’s the motivation?
I wager there is a lot more to this story.
