The Colombian Cardinal Alfonso Lopez Trujillo just died. Well, I am not going to shed a tear. He was basically the Minister of Family at the Vatican since 1990 and as such held extremely reactionary positions. He was a virulent adversary of liberation theology (because Heaven forbid that the Church actually work to help the poor, we can’t have that). He was against abortion without exceptions. He declared RU-486 to be chemical warfare. He also called for the excommunication of any doctors that practiced abortion and scientists who conducted embryonic research.
Good riddance.
