The President of Nestle Against Biofuels

The President of the giant food company, Nestle, does not like biofuels (via Le Nouvel Observateur and Liberation):
“If we want to cover 20% of the increasing need of petroleum products with biofuels, as it is scheduled, there will be nothing left to eat.“
Emphasis mine. Moreover, he considers morally reprehensible and irresponsible to subsidize so heavily the production of biofuels in the context of the already existing shortage of food. Such subsidies drive up the price of corn and soybean. In addition, cultivating biofuels is unsustainable as it takes 4,000 litres of water to produce 1 litre of bioethanol.
